Parade Information and Guidelines:
1. Date: Sunday December 2rd, 2007. Rain date:
December 9th 2007. Parade starts promptly at 12:00 noon. In case of
inclement weather check the chamber website: http://chamberms.com or listen to WALK
Radio
2. Theme: "Christmas Across America"
3. Parade Meetings: October 12th & November 16th
at the Mastic Fire House. The November 16th meeting is a mandatory
meeting for all parade participants.
4. Arrival at Southport Shopping Center: In by
10:00 am. Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and Church Groups using buses from
William Paca should be at Wm. Paca by 9:30 a.m.
5. Performance time at Reviewing Stand:
Reviewing Stand will be located at Washington Ave/Old Montauk Highway.
Performing Groups: Maximum two minute performances at reviewing stand.
Please, plan to perform as you approach the stand, acknowledge the judges
and continue to perform as you leave this area. Please take time in route
to demonstrate some aspect of your performance for the spectators.
Winning trophies will be awarded at the Grandstand.
6. Guidelines for Signs and Floats: Existing
signage permitted. New signage must not exceed 4'x8'. Driver must stay with
the float at all times.
7. Warnings: DO NOT THROW CANDY OR OTHER
ITEMS FROM YOUR FLOAT. If in costume do not remove the headpiece. (Kids
believe you are that Character)
8. There is only one Santa in the Christmas parade!
No imposters will be permitted! Anyone dressed as Santa or having Santa on
his or her float will not be permitted to participle in the parade.
